"Never have the answer before the question. Never have the solution before the problem." - Broadway producer
Broadway legend Irene Gandy has been in New York theatre for over half a century and shows no sign of slowing down. She has been press agent for over 50 Broadway shows and won a Tony award in 2012 for her work as producer on Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. Glamorous, outspoken, independent, Irene is an icon for young black women aspiring to work in the arts. She began her career in 1976 working in publicity for the Negro Ensemble Company and refuses to accept that the theatre is only for certain classes and certain races. Her work with community outreach work on Broadway now brings new and diverse audiences into the world of theatre.
